Community Champion of The Week: Coffee Inclusive Coffee Inclusive, a subsidiary of PA Inclusive, is more than a coffee shop and bakery in Pittston. It is a place where inclusion, opportunity, and community come together. The mission is simple but powerful: to hire individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities and give them the chance to learn, grow, and thrive in the workplace. We are a center of inclusion focusing on education, activity, advocacy, training, and employment for people with diverse abilities and the community at large. COFFEE CHANGIN INCLUSIVE LIVES TH EVERY CUP WITH Each day, the shop is filled with the aroma of fresh coffee and baked goods, but what makes it truly special are the smiling faces of the staff. Many of the employees live with developmental and intellectual disabilities and thrive in their roles, finding purpose and meaning in their work. They greet customers with warmth, prepare drinks with pride, and prove daily that they are some of the most capable souls in the community. Coffee Inclusive is not only a coffee shop and bakery, it is a place where ability is celebrated and where work builds dignity, confidence, and independence. Riddhi Patel, Rebecca Jurchak, Brian Boston, Ellie Bartoli, Jayden Mazzillo, and Christina Wesley Through the Inclusive Transitional Employment Program (ITEP), Coffee Inclusive partners with local school districts to provide high school students with disabilities the opportunity to train in a public facing, at pace work environment. Students learn how to brew drip coffee, bake muffins, engage with customers, and properly sanitize their work areas. This experience prepares students for entering the workforce upon graduation, ensuring they have the skills and tools they need to succeed. Leadership at Coffee Inclusive is also built on inclusion. Several staff members with disabilities serve on the board and leadership team, helping to make the fundamental decisions that Anthony Melf, Rebecca Jurchak, William Burrell (to the back), and Stacey Kile. shape the organization. Their voices guide the mission, showing that real inclusion means being involved at every level. Customers leave Coffee Inclusive with more than a latte or pastry.
