Community Champion of The Week: Lazy 2K Race Benetts NEPA Cancer Wellness Center A Race for People Who Hate Running & Love B SUNDAY, JULY 19 2026 Registration in ONLINE ON VLAIMITED to 300 people $35 FREE BEER WALK LAZY 2K $45 - - GIANT VANTZE MORE FREE BEER Lab Kondrated In 2023, while struggling with the passing of her mom, Wendy Cominsky decided to organize an event that was unconventional and lighthearted. Wendy loves organizing charity events in the area including her own 50th birthday party, where she raised $2,000. Enter the "Lazy 2k": a race for people who hate running and love beer. The event embraces the underachievers, procrastinators and the generally apathetic people who want to do good deeds for humanity. Now you can participate in a "race" without breaking a sweat or involving offensive works like "cardio." The first year started small. With only 150 "athletes", the Lazy K raised over $5,000 for the Harveys Lake Police, Fire and Ambulance. It was such a success, Wendy expanded it a little more each year. In late 2024 Wendy was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of lung cancer. By May 2025 it had spread to her Lymph nodes. The event was two weeks after she completed 15 rounds of radiation and three days later, she went back for chemo. Wendy refused to let it affect the event and even went into the dunk tank when someone didn't show. With the help of her friends, the Lazy K raised over $9,000 in 2025. The Cancer Wellness Center of NEPA cancer clients and their families. Wendy is miraculously four months chemo and cancer free and decided this year the Lazy 2K will benefit the NEPA Cancer Wellness Center to pay forward all the support she received. The Cancer Wellness Center of NEPA is deeply committed to ensuring that their organization fulfills its mission of providing support and resources to The race involves a 2k walk with complimentary beer tastings along the way.
