THE LUZERNE FOUNDATION COMMUNITY CHAMPION OF THE WEEK THE Luzerne FOUNDATION Here for good. Community Champion of the Week: The Millennium Circle Luncheon WILKES-BARRE-The Millennium Circle Advisory Committee of the Luzerne Foundation has narrowed the field of more than 30 applicants down to five for a $25,000 grant that will be announced on November 12, 2025. The Millennium Circle, established in 2000, is a group of passionate community members who come together to make a greater impact in Luzerne County through collective giving. By pooling resources, members amplify their charitable power, turning individual contributions into transformational grants that address local needs. More than just philanthropy, a giving circle is a community of changemakers who learn about pressing issues, connect with local nonprofits, and help decide where funds can make the biggest difference. Becoming a Millennium Circle member means your voice and your dollars help shape the future of our community. Since its inception and through 2024, the Millennium Circle has recognized $514,000 in grant awards to local charities. Last year's Millennium Circle grant recipient, Meals on Wheels of Wyoming Valley, exemplifies the spirit of community and compassion that the Millennium Circle seeks to uplift. This community-based, nonprofit organization relies entirely on donations to continue providing nutritious meals to individuals in need, without any government funding. Meals on Wheels ensures that no one in our community goes hungry or forgotten. Each year, a new advisory committee is selected from existing Millennium Circle members who wish to help steward the process. The $25,000 grant will be awarded at the Millennium Circle Luncheon, set for Wednesday, Nov. 12, at the Friedman JCC, 613 SJ Strauss Lane, Kingston.
