The Area's Top Politicians Talk Show for the 11th Year Volpe Report f FOX 56 SUNDAY MORNINGS 10:30 AM REPUBLICAN PA HOUSE LEADER IRKED BY DEMOCRATS' SABBATICAL Playing politics in Harrisburg is certainly nothing new, but a Republican House Leader said she thinks Democrats in the current session went too far in taking an extended hiatus because the Chamber's roof is leaking. Martina White, Secretary of the Republican Caucus from the 170th District (Philadelphia), is the guest on the Volpe Report Sunday at 10:30 a.m. on FOX 56. Rep. White said she didn't think a full-time legislature should not be in session for an extended period during a "critical time". She added that it's the Democrats' choice to play politics with a return not scheduled until March, "coincidentally" right after a Special Election which Democrats believe will restore their majority and break the cument 101-101 deadlock. White pointed out, to prove her point that a fire generations ago that destroyed the House did not result in any missed sessions. They simply met elsewhere until repairs could be made. There are numerous items still languishing on the table, chief among them are the long-standing school choice issue and revising Pennsylvania's Tax Code to address the amount of loss businesses can write off, which is well below the federal standard as well as surrounding states.
