In order to heal and to protect communities of color, justice must be served when inocent lives are taken. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has further revealed the racial inequalities in our country. Americans are marching and protesting not only against blaant racísm but also against the social and economic barriers experienced by måny of our citizens. The voices of the people have been heard across the country and in our own community. As Mayor, I thank you for showing your support with peaceful demonstrations and marches within the City of Wilkes-Barre. As we recover from the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, now is the time to ensure that our diversé community returns with strength and vitality. Wilkes-Barre grew through the hard work of immigrants from many countries. Our progressive ity recognizes and celebrates the diversitý of our residents' color, race, religion, sexual orientation, and socio-económic status. My administration will continue to work together with all citizens to prótect the livelihood and safety of all residents, ensuring continuing diversity training and regulating the proper use of force by our Wilkes- Brre Citý Police ófficers. The City of Wilkes-Barre stands with our Black residents, employees, business-owners, and the entire Black community. MAYOR GEORGE C.
