WILKES-BAR 1871 Mayor George C. Brown HOMETOWN HEROES BANNER PROGRAM A Celebration to Honor Our Past and Present Members of the Armed Forces Sponsored by the City of Wilkes-Barre The Hometown Heroes Banner Program honors veterans (both living and deceased) and active-duty members of the Armed Forces from the City of Wilkes-Barre. Over 300 Hometown Heroes banners have been installed in Downtown Wilkes-Barre since 2021. We are opening the program once again to honor more military citizens. Each banner will feature the individual's photo (provided by the family of the "Hero"), name, and branch of service. Banners will be displayed on light poles on main streets in Wilkes-Barre. Hometown Heroes banners will be displayed throughout the City of Wilkes-Barre for a two-year period. If after being on display for two years the banners still look respectful, the banners may stay displayed for a longer period of time. To qualify as a Hometown Hero, the Hero must have lived in the City of Wilkes-Barre either before or after their military service. (Heroes do not need to have been born in Wilkes-Barre). The company that creates the banners requires a minimum of 10 banners to be purchased before production begins. Banners will not be hung until a quantity of at least 10 are received. The cost of each banner is $230.00, payable to the City of Wilkes-Barre. The Hometown Heroes program will accept applications for new banners until this threshold is met. Applications will then be screened to ensure "Hero" eligibility criteria is met. Before printing, proofs will be provided to you via email for your review. Please review the proof carefully and let us know of any changes immediately. For further information or to request an application, please call Lisa Sanfilippo at 570.208.4157 or email her at Isanfilippo@wilkes-barre.pa.us Applications can be found online at: www.wilkes-barre.city/hometownheroes WILKES - BAR 1871 Mayor George C.
