Attn: West Pittston Residents Information when opening and discharging water from your Pools or Hot Tubs MS4 Rules Pools & Hot Tub Discharge Rules and Guidelines When draining pools or hot tubs, West Pittston residents must follow MS4 guidelines. No pool or hot tub water is allowed to flow into borough storm sewers. Anyone reported to be discharging pool/hot tub water into public storm sewers will be fined $300.00 per occurrence. An alternative procedure to drain pool and hot tub water is to discharge water into private property cleanout cap or sanitary sewer. However, before doing this, pool/hot tub water must sit for at least two weeks until chlorine has dissipated. Check chlorine levels with a chlorine test kit to make sure there are no detectable levels of chlorine. If neither of these options is feasible, the "Chlorine Free" water must be discharged onto a grassy area or hauled away to an appropriate treatment facility. West Pittston residents can pick up printed guidelines at the borough office. Please call DPW at 570-655-7786 with any questions. Thank you for your cooperation. Remember We All Live Down Stream!!
