Since 1929, the Congregation of the Oblates of St. Joseph has been serving in the Diocese of Scranton, PA primarily through the administration of parishes and various other ministries. With the development of their vocation and formation program, a large, beautiful seminary was built in 1965 with the original purpose to prepare high school men for the religious O B LA TES life and priesthood. This plan was altered soon afterward due ST. JOSEPH to the post-Vatican II changes in the Church and the world. The seminary facility was later used as a residence for college- HOLY SPOUSES PROVINCE age men in basic religious formation with a significant area of OBLATES OF SAINT JOSEPH FACILITY AND CHAPEL 1880 Highway 315 | Pittston, PA 18640-6100 space available to the public for educational, developmental, social, and athletic needs. Currently, it is the home of an Oblate religious community of five priests with a Chapel of St. Joseph opened to the faithful for daily Mass & confessions.
