MEET THE NEW DENTIST IN TOWN Stephen grew up in Forty-Fort, PA and graduated from Wyoming Valley West High School. During high school, Stephen served as captain of both the varsity tennis and golf teams. He received a Division I tennis scholarship to Rider University, where he majored in biology. After his sophomore year of college, he transferred to King's College located in Wilikes-Barre, PA where he served as Captain of the men's tennis team and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Biology. Stephen was accepted to Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine where he began his studies and dream of being a dentist. While pursuing his dental degree, Stephen studied abroad in Manipal, India at the Manipal Academy of Higher Education in an exchange program dedicated to improving his skills as a general dentist, He was also selected to participate in the International Dental Student Competition at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Stomatology in Shanghai China, where he received the Award for Excellent Performance. At Boston University, Stephen served as President of Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity and President of the AAPHD (American Association of Public Health Dentistry). He went on to receive the American Equilibrium Society Award in Occlusion, TMD, and Comprehensive Care, and the DentaQuest Foundation Award for Integrating Oral Health in Primary Care. Stephen graduated Magna Cum Laude from Boston University and was selected to attend the Advanced Education in General Dentistry Program at the Medical University of South Carolina. While in the AEGD program at MUSC, Stephen was selected to serve as Chief Resident. He focused on refining his clinical skills and learning advanced cosmetic and surgical procedures using the most advanced technology and techniques. Following completion of the post-doctoral program at MUSC, Stephen dedicated himself to opening Brand Dental with his father, Dr. Charles Brand who has practiced in the Back Mountain for 35 years with the mission of using his skill set to deliver the highest standard of care to the residents of NEPA.
